On SUNDAY DECEMBER 8, 2013 FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION-2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT AT 11:45 AM
MASS, Father Louis Scurti celebrated the 40th Anniversary of his Priesthood. It was hosted at the parish that he now
serves, as a retired priest, Annunciation, Wayne, NJ.
The church was packed with his family and friends and the mass was followed by a reception in the parish hall.
Father SCurti was lauded in speeches by William Paterson University faculty member, Dr Karen Demsey, his nephew,
Dr Michael Scurti, Randy George, mayor of North Haledon, where Father Scurti serves as Chaplain to the Police and
Firefighters. Mayor George read a Proclamation honoring Father Scurti.
The pastor, Msgr Doody and Msgr Patrick Brown con-celebrated the Mass. Msgr Doody thanked Father Scurti and
highlighted his many accomplishments when he served as Campus Minister at William Paterson University. He
noted the efforts and talent Father Scurti expended annually, especially in the "Nine Eleven Memorial Mass" which
he founded in 2002 and has since moved to Annunciation. He spoke of his outreach to various community members
young adults, youth and the elderly of his own parish as well as from Scurti's past ministry.
The reception was hosted by Mr. Gerard Reynolds, faculty member, Haledon Board of Education, Maggie Molino and
other "Friends of Father Lou" and the Knights of Columbus. Scurti continues his ministry at Annunciation and other

Father Scurti's Ministry has included: St Pius High School, Passaic, De Paul Catholic, Wayne, Chaplain at the North
Jersey Developmental Center, Totowa, Catholic Campus Ministry at the Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Chapel &
Bishop Rodimer Campus Ministry Center, serving the William Paterson University and now assists at Annunciation,
Wayne, NJ. He also served on the faculty of William Paterson University & St. Peter's University, Jersey City, NJ
